Yes, it has been awhile.

It has been quite awhile since I have posted anything. We went to Disney in April to watch Susan's high school band march the evening parade. It was really cool.

Did I mention it was cold there!








It was a good time.......

And then this happened......



Yeah, it hurt, how dare I put my jacket on! I was putting my jacket on and there was a loud pop and a whole lot of pain.

Then, I think about a week after we got home there was this......



Yeah, Susan had to have her gallbladder out. She was a very sick girl. She got very sick with an attack on the bus to Disney but they were still close to home so she would not tell her band director because she was afraid she would turn around. Bad me forgot to give her the pain meds she was prescribed but luckily I had them in my luggage and took them to her hotel. It was a cursed trip. 2 of the kids in the hospital, one with just strep and came right back from the ER, one almost died, she could not come home until several weeks after the kids were home and was never able to go back to school. Thankfully she was able to walk her graduation!

Then there was prom......



The boyfriends turned out to be a HUGE loser by the way.

Then, one MRI later this happened......






Yes, I had to have surgery! Turns out I had bone spurs on my shoulder from a previous injury and a tendon kept popping on it. My shoulder was cleaned up and some bone shaved off my collar bone. It hurt, it still hurts but is a lot better but I spent the summer recovering and am still recovering and working on it. Clearly no crafty things going on here these past months and not a ton of gluten free creating. I've been sticking with my old stand by's. When I get my kitchen counters back I can work on creating some new dishes and I'll have to explain what happened to my counters in another post because that will be a long one too. Let's just say every thing went to hell with the house at once. I wanted to tear my hair out! Abandoning my house crossed my mind, but then I got my senses together LOL. I have pictures to share of what we are doing and we had another nice vacation.

Dinner tonight, a large turkey about 18 pounds stuffed with cut up onions and oranges, mashed potatoes, gravy and salad. A lovely gluten free dinner, yummy! Gotta go baste the bird!

Long time no blog

I amaze myself at how long it has been since my last post. I haven't posted since Christmas time. What have I been doing since then? Not much, mostly reading. The stack I took a picture of got much bigger in the few weeks after Christmas. I has decided I need to buy my books instead of checking them out of the local library. I was tired of finding food and crumbs in the books and they reeked of cigarette smoke. The crumbs worried me the most because most likely they were bread crumbs and I certainly did not want to get sick from a library book! So I finished The Stand By Stephen King, it was a terrific book. Now I'm reading Run for you Life by James Patterson and A Single Thread by Marie Bostwick. I'm just in the begining of both so can not comment about how they are. Any ways since Christmas I've just been taking care of my family, my animals and myself. My arthritis has flared on and off with spring coming and the weather changing so drasticly but I am dealing with it.

So since Christmas Susan did a play with her highschool drama club called Once Upon a Mattress. I know, my eyebrows raised when I heard the title too but it's about the princess and the pea and was an excellent play. Here are some pics of that.










Also, in the time since Christmas I learned to make home made corn tortillas and of course they are gluten free and very tasty!








Susan also made her 4-H basket for the year and learned to dye her own reed.

I also had a birthday on February 12. The big 32, yahoo right?

The picture of Susan lighting the candles is funny because when she blew out the match she blew out my candle in the process! So she had to relite them and she had a hard time getting them to light to begin with.







We also hit the annual book sale at our local library. It's easy to remember because it's always the weekend after my birthday. Here's a pic of our haul. Most of them are Susan's. All the Harlequins are hers. I'm not a big fan of the formula fiction love stories. It drives me nuts to read the same story over and over with different names.




And to prove that I do do some sewing every once in a great while here is a picture of a block from a quilt I am working on.




Well I am done for now. This does not compleatly update every thing but it's getting closer. I'll finish updating and sharing more on another day.

Christmas Time

We had a great Christmas here. Susan liked every thing she got, especially the new cell phone and me and Dan have been having a blast with the Wii we decided to get for each other. Here are some pictures from Christmas morning.

This first one is hilarious. I went to a craft fair a few weeks before Christmas and Binder Park Zoo had a table set up and were selling a few things and I bought Susan a journal and letter writing set called Poopoo paper. It is made using elephant poo recycled into paper. I thought it was genius to do that and have since learned they do it with Panda poo too. All the money went to help elephants in the wild. Anyways here is the picture when she read it and realized what it was LOL.

These next picture are us playing a maracas game we got. You have to shake the maracas in time to the music on the game. It's a lot of fun.

Susan got a ton of books for Christmas this year. I think around 14 of them. 4 of them are a teen vampire series (no, not Twilight). She wanted the Twilight series but I have a problem buying her a series she has recently read since she doesn't read her books twice. I didn't know why she wanted it but I got her this other series instead. I'm planning on reading them as well. I'll read them first as I read a lot faster than Susan. As a gift I recieved Patricia Cornwell's new book and I also recieved Stephen Kings The Stand. The uncut version. My mom has read it before and said it was a really good book. I've seen the movie and love it so I'm looking forward to reading it and all the other books as well. I also have a book called On Strike For Christmas. It sounds like a good one too. Here's my stack that I'm reading right now.





Here I will share pictures from Susan's Christmas concert. This year she was in the chior as well. Some how she get placed in there for her first trimester so she went ahead and sang in the concert even though they are in their second trimester. Then of course the band played and Susan is first chair and had 3 solos. It was a great concert and they finished up with my favorite Christmas song. Susan is the blond in the second row.

This is the apron I made for my mom for Christmas. She seemed to really like it. Susan picked the fabric.





The gluten free food I made was nothing exciting. It was delicious but no new recipes. The doctor did increase my Lyrica and it seems to be working well so far. He also gave me a prescription to help me sleep at night and it helps with pain and it has been woking very well. It's nice to be getting a decent nights sleep for a change with out waking up constantly because some thing or other hurts. I'm also on some thing called Ultram. It's a pain medication that slowly releases into my system over the day. It seems to be working well too but I may up that one.

Well, I guess that updates every thing and spell check isn't working so I hope every thing is looks and is spelled right.
